MONTAUK — East Hampton Town Police received a report of petty thievery from a South Elmwood Avenue convenience store last Thursday afternoon. Kennedy Alexander Santiago, 22, an East Hampton resident had walked out of the store with one Dr Pepper soda, two Starbucks Frappuccinos, and one Tollhouse Chipwich ice cream sandwich, police said. Police, provided with surveillance video by store management and an eyewitness description, soon placed Santiago under arrest. EAST HAMPTON VILLAGE — On New Year’s Day morning, shortly before dawn, Village Police received a report of a pickup truck being driven recklessly eastbound on Main Street. An officer who was dispatched to check out that report spotted a white Ford F-150 being driven on the wrong side of the road, headed toward Montauk, away from the village, police said. The officer activated lights and sirens, the police report reads, but the F-150 speeded away. SPRINGS — Darwin Ronaldo Kaekat-Naanch, 37, was arrested by East Hampton Town Police around noon on Friday on a charge of assault in the third degree, a misdemeanor. Police said Kaekat-Naanch got into an altercation with another tenant in the house he lives in, and punched the man in the mouth, causing severe bleeding. The man was taken to the hospital, and after investigation, police made the arrest. Kaekat-Naanch was held overnight, and arraigned on Sunday morning virtually in front of East Hampton Town Justice David Filer. EAST HAMPTON VILLAGE — East Hampton Village Police arrested a Springs man, Gary Thomas Benintendi, 29, after, they say, he went on a couture shoplifting spree on Newtown Lane and Main Street around noon on December 10. According to police, Benintendi hit the Louis Vuitton store at the corner of Main Street and Newtown Lane first.
