East Hampton Steps Up Fines, Charges for Shellfish Poaching

The popularity of the pond's abundant blue claw crab population has attracted poachers who descend on the pond under cover of darkness to gather large number of crabs, many of which are believed to end up for sale in city seafood markets. East Hampton Town recently stiffened fines for poaching, and coordinated commercial efforts could now face criminal charges. @FISHWITHMAGIC
