Among nine public hearings at the East Hampton Town Board’s October 17 meeting was one on a local law that would override the state-imposed 2 percent limit on tax levy increases from year to year. The town’s 2025 preliminary budget of $103,722,303 proposes to pierce that cap with an 8.65 percent increase in spending over the 2024 adopted budget. A plan to increase allowable density for nonsenior affordable housing projects in East Hampton Town will be forwarded to the Planning Department, the Town Board said on Tuesday, October 15.
