The village has considered the property at 29 King Street as a possible site for the sewage treatment plant but consultants said the property would require variances from the county health department, would be costly to purchase and would likely draw substantial opposition from residents of nearby neighborhoods.

A rendering of the village's public works property off Accabonac Road shows the vacant area where a sewage treatment plant and leaching pools could fit without the need for variances from required setbacks. The site would have to be approved by the East Hampton Town Planning Board.
