The Pantigo Road property known to most as the site of the former Sterns department store has been in East Hampton town's sights as a prime location for a subsidized housing development since the early 2000s. The property was sold in 2020 and the new owner has proposed subdividing it for three housing lots, but a representative said he would also be open to selling it to the town.
