The Town of East Hampton looks to change its code of ethics. An unprompted action by Robert Connelly and his own volition. If someone, somewhere, is having an event, and that event has a ticket that costs over $75; that denomination threshold should now be moved, increased for the allowance of a board member to accept participation for the event.
It’s interesting this is on the heels of “Envelopegate” at the Amagansett School. Which, just a few years ago, had a memo sent home to parents about “gifts.” It was rumored that some school employees were getting well beyond $75.
Still here.

After months of reading about Nick LaLota’s campaign, and the misinformation he and his staff are spreading about how he represents Long Islanders, I find the need to speak out to my fellow East Enders. LaLota’s record is clearly one...

I have been a resident of Bridgehampton for almost 40 years, and I am deeply concerned at the unfairness and lack of neighborliness reflected in the July 17 decision by the Sagaponack Village Board to limit access to Gibson Lane...
I have become inured to the insults that reader Ed Surgan peppers his Letters to the Editor with and have refrained from responding for some time. But a statement in his latest missive must be challenged. Speaking of the vice...
The former chair of the Southampton Democrats, Mike Anthony, argues in this space that Congressman Nick LaLota is perpetrating a fraud by representing himself as a centrist on reproductive rights [“Watch What They Do,” Letters, September 12]. Yes, Mr. Anthony,...
“The lady doth protest too much, methinks.” Shakespeare could well have been describing Nick LaLota’s most recent (September 10, 2024) posting on X (née Twitter). At the very top of the page, in large, brightly colored letters, are the words:...
