The Hampton Lifeguard Association (HLA) hosted its annual East Hampton Junior Lifeguard Tournament over the weekend at Atlantic Avenue Beach in Amagansett, where hundreds of competitors between the ages of 9 and 15 competed in events on both Saturday and Sunday, August 6 and 7.

Events included distance run, distance swim, swim-run-paddle relay, run-swim-run relay, landline, torp rescue, paddleboard relay, 4x100 relay, beach flags and Ironguard.

Many of the junior lifeguards joined their older counterparts this week in Hermosa Beach, California, for the United States Lifesaving Association’s annual National Lifeguard Championships.
