Judge Blocks East Hampton Sand Mine 'Lake' Expansion, For Now

The sand mine on Middle Highway known as Sand Highway. A judge issued a temporary restraining order against the mine's owners, Patrick Bistrian Inc., from mining below groundwater tables, creating an artificial lake, as the state Department of Environmental Conservation has said is allowable.
