Students in Mindy Reyer’s PreK class at the Sag Harbor Learning Center recently took a field trip  to the South Fork Natural History Museum for a day of discovery, exploration and learning. The students experienced the museum’s scientifically accurate galleries, featuring live and recreated natural habitat exhibits. Springs School Board of Education President Barbara Dayton at last Tuesday’s board of education meeting where the board honored their salutatorian and valedictorians from the eighth grade class. (Left to right) Molly Stillman is the class salutatorian, with Ella Menu, Alessa Picco and Ginger Griffin sharing top honors as the class valedictorian. Ella Menu was also recognized at Tuesday night’s meeting for being the first place winner in the annual eighth grade speech competition for her speech on “Stop the Stigma,” a discussion on mental health. Alessa Picco placed second in that contest for her talk on “Their Silent Suffering,” about rape and the criminal justice system, and Valentina Arango placed third for her talk, “Fly Free,” about women’s rights in Saudia Arabia and around the world.
