Stephen “Stevie” Peter Sicilian of East Hampton died on April 12. He was 71.
He was a true New Yorker. He grew up in North Babylon and moved to Manhattan, where he completed his Ph.D. in psychology at City University.
After enjoying East Hampton for several summers, he moved there permanently and considered it his dream come true. He spent his last 30 years in East Hampton.
He was an avid sailor and loved walking his golden retrievers at the dog park and beach. Sicilian loved the waters around East Hampton and spent as much time as he could on his boats. He enjoyed fishing until he learned that it was actually painful for the fish, at which point, he quit the sport. This is just a hint into his sweet, kind, caring and compassionate nature, his family said.
He loved connecting with people. He was a loyal Giants and Mets fan for decades.
Sicilian was a Ph.D. child psychologist, who began his long career of caring for children at Mt. Sinai hospital in Queens, and ended by founding and serving as the executive director of East End Kids Therapy, until his illness forced him to retire. He is greatly loved and missed and will never be forgotten, his family said.
He is survived by his wife Emily Corwith Guile; his siblings Jim Sicilian and his wife Gracie; and his sister Donna Sicilian and her son Lamar; his god-children Michele Greco and Pam Koutrakos and their children who he considered his own; many loving cousins and friends.
