Benjamin Tallmadge and the Tallmadge Trail

Description:

After the British won the battle of Brooklyn and occupied Long Island, Major Benjamin Tallmadge led a series of successful military raids to harass the British troops. General George Washington also tapped Tallmadge to lead an espionage ring of Long Island spies. Hear local historian Robert von Bernewitz discuss the life of Setauket, Long Island-born Benjamin Tallmadge and how the Long Island Culper Spy Ring played a significant role in winning the Revolutionary War. Take a photographic journey and visit the sites along the Tallmadge Trail during the raid on the British fort in Mastic and the burning of the hay in Coram.
