This classic MGM romantic musical, directed by Vincent Minelli, focuses on the four Smith sisters in the year before the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair. Their lives are about to be uprooted as they learn their father has been transferred to New York, just as 17-year- old Esther (Judy Garland) has fallen in love with the boy next door who has just moved in. The film also stars a young Margaret O’Brien and Mary Astor, and features the classic songs, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas and the Trolley Song.
