Participate in the Great Backyard Bird Count – a community science project hosted by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and the National Audubon Society. We will meet on the children’s deck at 10 am to watch the library feeders, then continue around the library grounds. This family-friendly program is open to beginner birders.
Learn to identify birds common to Montauk and help us count the various species that visit the library’s feeders and sanctuary garden. Folks are welcome to birdwatch from indoors or from the library decks. After the count, we’ll submit a group checklist to eBird.
Dress for the weather and bring your own binoculars. The library will have a limited number available for borrowing. An adult must accompany children under 10.
This event is co-sponsored with Third House Nature Center.
