John Melillo, Vietnam Veteran/East End Artist is honored to present at SAC his ART Journey and progression of healing as an Artist! He paints two themes; East End and the Lighter Side of Vietnam. Through a compelling presentation of ART & Video, he will take you through his ART journey where his family heritage settled in 1910 around the corner from SAC and still resides today. These memories have supplied his ART an inspiration he calls a “Tom Sawyer Adventure.” He will share his Seascapes paintings that have evolved to capture his unique experiences of fishing all the waters of the East End as well as Landscapes he remembers circa 1950 on. His Paintings Keep evolving, getting Bigger and he challenges himself ongoing to bring the viewer on a journey. He will then bring you through his “Life Goes on Series” Experience where he paints from his Original Photos he took in Vietnam. You will see his “FLAG” Series Live that represents comradery throughout the community. Each year he paints a New Flag to represent inspiration and thank all for their service! John Melillo Bio
John Melillo is an Oil Contemporary Realist Painter on all surfaces.
He grew up on the East End of LI. He is also a disabled Vietnam Veteran who uses painting as a Solace and Healing Mechanism from PTSD. “ART Saved Me!”, JM
Much of his art is inspired by his East End Heritage. Getting to the know the East End circa 1950 on served as a great tool of knowledge and playground for John’s admiration for the water and fishing that inspires his ART journey today. He Also Paints the Lighter Side of Vietnam with his “Life Goes On Series”, from his Original Photos that he Took while serving in the Army 1970-72. His Art is geared to DETAIL and STORY TELLING.
John has been featured in many TV appearances such as CBS, Newsday, News 12 and You can see John’s work in Starbucks all around the Hamptons.
