The Covid pandemic has shone a harsh light on our country's broken health care system. It's time to take bold action. Passing the NY Health Act, a single payer system, is the right action and it's closer than ever. New York needs only ONE more Senator to sign on to the bill.
Join Long Island Activists (LIA) and PEER for our NYHA Education & Advocacy Forum. Special Guests include Senator Gustavo Rivera, sponsor of the NYHA and Darius Shahinfar, Albany's Treasurer. They will discuss the financial benefits of the NYHA, detailing how the act will reduce health care costs for you and your municipality. Health Care experts, Dr. Cheryl Cashin and Steven Cecchini, will lead the discussion. Dr. Steve Auerbach will also attend and answer questions related to physicians and hospitals.
You'll LEARN about the Act - what's new, how it will improve your Health Care and how New York will pay for it.
You'll DISCOVER how you can help PASS the New York Health Act. We will explain many specific actions you can take to advocate for the bill.
NYS can lead the way by passing the NYHA; demonstrating that single payer health care is superior to our profit driven private patchwork system. It's NOT too good to be true.
Who should come? Local municipal officials, health care workers, small business owners, everyone interested in learning more.
Event co-sponsors include Campaign for NY Health (CNYH), East End Action Network (EEAN), Nassau DSA, and Suffolk DSA. List in formation.
