Andrew Dwan is a versatile performer praised for his magnetic stage presence. He is known for his comedic roles, including Figaro in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, Dulcamara in Donizetti’s l’Elisir d’Amore, Papageno in Mozart’s Die Zauberflote, and Dandini in Rossini’s Cenerentola. An avid performer and advocate of contemporary works, he recently premiered Zigman’s oratorio Émigré at the Shanghai Symphony and New York Philharmonic, garnering praise from the New York Times for his “attractive” voice. Dwan is a 2019 and 2021 alumnus of the Merola Opera Program, where his appearance as Mephistopheles was commended for “rich, flexible tone and convincing acting” (Bay Area Reporter) and his “constantly secure voice [which] knew how to shape every phrase with dramatic significance” (Rehearsal Studio). This year he looks forward to making his solo debuts with Deutsches Symphonie Berlin, Hong Kong Philharmonic, and Beijing Symphony.
