“Artists & Writers” Series Welcomes Jessica Soffer
Almond Restaurant continues its “Artists & Writers” dinner series on Tuesday, March 11, at 6:30 p.m. with writer Jessica Soffer. During the event, a three-course family-style meal will be served with one glass of wine or draft beer for $59 including gratuity.
Soffer is The New York Times bestselling author of “Tomorrow There Will Be Apricots” and “This Is a Love Story,” a book that was the February pick of “Today Show” co-host Jenna Bush Hager for “Read With Jenna.” Soffer’s work has appeared in Granta, The New York Times, Real Simple, Saveur, The Wall Street Journal and Vogue among other publications and on NPR’s “Selected Shorts.” She lives in Sag Harbor with her family.

Bistro Eté Winter Prix Fixe
After a winter vacation, Bistro Eté in Water Mill will reopen on Thursday, March 13, and is offering its $46 three-course prix fixe menu. Offered Thursday and Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m., enjoy French classics as well as vegetarian and local catch options. Bistro Eté’s house-made ice cream is always offered. The prix fixe excludes Easter Sunday. Also, don’t miss foie gras Fridays at Bistro Eté.

Food and Wine Classes at The Halyard
Over on the North Fork, Sound View Greenport is curating a series of wine and culinary classes in the weeks ahead. The Academy at The Halyard’s classes were created to offer food and cocktail enthusiasts immersive, hands-on opportunities to work with renowned chefs and bartenders.
The upcoming schedule begins on Thursday, March 6, at 5 p.m. with “The Academy’s Wine Class: Sparkling Pointe Wines.” Learn about the history of sparkling wines and enjoy a four-course tasting menu from Nathan Hitchcock, executive chef, with Sparkling Pointe bubbles. Learn about the difference between Champagne and Prosecco and the history behind the world of bubbles. The dishes have been curated to highlight the Maillard reaction when pairing with bubbles. The cost is $75 per person.
“The Academy’s Culinary Class: Entertaining With Ease” will follow on Monday, March 10, at 5 p.m. Learn the dos and don’ts of hosting with tips and tricks from The Halyard chefs. Here’s a hint — it’s all about the preparation. When hosting a party, using these tips and tricks will help hosts enjoy their parties and not be stuck in the kitchen all night. With guidance, the chefs will show participants the dos and don’ts of entertaining this spring and summer season. The cost is $100 per person.
Finally, on Friday, April 4, at 1 p.m., travel back in time to the 1920s when alcohol production and sales were prohibited. In “Cocktail Class: Secrets of the Prohibition Era,” participants will not only learn about Prohibition, but also how it affected the cocktail world we know today. The instructors will teach students how to build three to four classic cocktails from this time and explain how they have inspired hundreds of cocktails after them. The cost is $100 per person.
