Suffolk Theater is now offering small plates and desserts alongside its performances after omitting full dinners in January.
With a fully updated drinks menu and the addition of themed specialty cocktails, The Suffolk now offers an elevated experience unlike any other venue on Long Island.
Last January, Suffolk Theater’s Executive Director, Gary Hygom, announced that the venue would replace full dinners with small plates, urging patrons to visit local restaurants for dinner before their show.
After restructuring the kitchen and bar as well as finding new ways that they can work together, The Suffolk is ready to officially introduce its brand-new menu full of new drinks, lite bites and desserts.
“The food we offer now is just enough to complement the show and round out our guests’ experience here,” Hygom explained. “We still encourage patrons to have dinner at the incredible local restaurants in town prior to the show — we’re always thrilled to hear so many people talking about all the great places in town they just came from — the only difference now is that we’ve got you covered in case you get hungry.”
The Suffolk’s menu offers a variety of boards, bites and sweets ranging from cheese and mezze boards, to mini empanadas and coconut shrimp, to red velvet cake and funnel fries. The updated drink menu offers a more extensive wine selection, local craft beer, top-shelf liquor, specialty cocktails uniquely designed for every show, and suggestions of which drinks play well with what food. Patrons can now view the full menu and keep up with its latest additions and changes on the website, suffolktheater.com. Suffolk Theater is at 118 East Main Street, Riverhead.

As New York foodies gear up for the opening of Tin Building, a new culinary marketplace located in the historic Tin Building on Pier 17 at Manhattan’s South Street Seaport, Chef Jean-Georges Vongericheten and the team behind the effort is previewing its culinary offerings on the East End with the Tiny Tin Food Truck, a mobile restaurant now on the East End and offering a complimentary selection of Vongerichten’s favorite summer recipes, inspired by the new marketplace.
Tiny Tin, as it is affectionately called, is a 1970s Citröen truck that has been enhanced to evoke Tin Building’s home base at Pier 17 — from faux tiles inspired by Tin Building to a mobile kitchen complete with an awning and traveling outdoor furniture. Tiny Tin and its vintage feel were achieved via a collaboration with MKG, a creative agency focused on brand action and experiential marketing.
Tiny Tin Food Truck will be parked outside the Topping Rose House in Bridgehampton this weekend from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, August 27, and from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, August 28, and will be offering complimentary items including lobster rolls, green chickpea hummus with pita and cookies, which guests can enjoy at outdoor seats. Come September, like many summer visitors to the East End, the Tiny Tin Food Truck will head west where it will make more stops across New York City.
The Brooklyn bar Ponyboy will head east for an end-of-summer bash at the Surf Lodge in Montauk.
On Thursday, August 25, festivities kick off at 6 p.m. with live music in the signature Ponyboy party vibe and cocktails to help kiss summer goodbye.
Among the drinks being served will be Ponyboy’s Forgetmenot with Ilegal Mezcal, fresh watermelon and lemon juice, honey ginger syrup and a dash of jalapeño tincture for a spicy finish. Also on the menu is To the Moon 2.0 with Ilegal, vermouth, cucumber, tamarind and lime. Entertainment will include two DJ sets and a live band. Light bites will be served in the form of fresh sushi and sashimi, perfect for pairing with a summer sunset and a cocktail. The Surf Lodge is at 183 Edgemere Street in Montauk.
This summer on the North Fork, Demarchelier Bistro has been cooking up French-inspired dishes in Greenport.
Located in the heart of the village, the family owned and operated establishment showcases a menu highlighting the rich cultural expressions of French cuisine.
Demarchelier Bistro evokes Parisian design. From marble-top tables and an antique bar, to outdoor seating and colorful paintings by the owner’s father — famed artist Eric Demarchelier — the atmosphere makes the bistro an ideal stop for either a quick bite, a romantic rendezvous or a nice meal out with family and friends.
Owner Emily Demarchelier, who is the daughter of Eric Demarchelier, and her staff offer French café classics such as steak tartare, duck confit, salad niçoise, pomme dauphine, and a quiche of the day.
The restaurant also has a wide selection of fromages that highlight a cheese fondue or chef selections; as well as charcuteries with jambon de Bayonne, chorizo, garlic sausage, saussion, pate de campagne, duck rillette and foie gras. Demarchelier Bistro offers a dessert menu of sweets like the chocolate fondant or crème brulée. In addition, wine selections bring the country’s vineyards to the forefront.
Demarchelier Bistro is currently offering a summer happy hour, with $8 glasses of rosé wine, $8 pastis, as well as specials on tapas running from 4 to 6 p.m. daily.
Additionally, the restaurant is hosting an art exhibit where Eric Demarchelier will be displaying his latest work. The show is a tribute to the artist’s late brother, photographer, Patrick Demarchelier.
