Musical ‘September Sundays’ in Sag Harbor

The Sag Harbor American Music Festival (SHAMF) is hosting a “September Sundays” residency at Baron’s Cove Restaurant in the weeks leading up to the festival, which runs September 26 to 29 at venues both indoors and outdoors throughout Sag Harbor.

Recognizing that September is a spectacular time to enjoy Sag Harbor, Baron’s Cove has partnered with SHAMF to present live music during its Sunday brunch service. Featuring musicians from Montauk to Manhattan, diners and music lovers will get a taste of the festival fare and a delicious meal with a view of the cove. Make reservations now to secure a table. September 8, 2 to 3:30 p.m. — Rorie Kelly

Rorie Kelly is an award-winning singer/songwriter/lady-beast from Long Island. Her mission in life is to spread healing through art and to remind everyone to love themselves with the fierceness of a kitten that doesn’t know it is tiny. Her music has been featured in film and TV shows, received radio airplay around the world, and led her to perform at the Obama White House in 2016.

September 15, 2 to 3:30 p.m. — Chloe Halpin

Chloe Halpin was born in Cincinnati and raised in southern Indiana and on Long Island. She has been writing her own catalogue for over a decade. Her style of modern alternative country offers catchy melodies and strong vocals with witty, personable lyricism. A hard worker, she plays on any stage she can from Long Island to Las Vegas. Her songs can be found and purchased on most major streaming services. Halpin was the recipient of the 2021 SHAMF Young Musicians Initiative Vocalist of the Year and played the Sag Harbor American Music Festival in 2021, 2022 and 2023.

September 22, 2 to 3:30 p.m. — Lina Maxine

The journey of making their original music has brought together L.A. born singer and songwriter Lina Maxine and Dean Aladay, a producer and guitarist from London, shaping their alternative sound rooted in rock and pop. After touring across the U.K. in 2022 supporting Kasabian’s frontman, Maxine and Aladay have relocated to Montauk where they wrote, produced and released their first EP “You’re My Only Friend” in June 2023. Together with their local band, the duo have set out to bring their new soul-stirring tunes and dynamic shows across the East End.

Time for Gazpacho From the Garden

Farm-fresh gazpacho is on the menu for a hands-on, farm-to-table cooking class at Hallockville Museum Farm in Riverhead on Saturday, September 7, from 11 to 12:30 p.m. Hallockville community gardener and home cook, Susan Babkes, will provide all the necessary ingredients for participants to prepare gazpacho from the garden featuring three different varieties of this delicious cold summer soup: traditional Spanish, yellow gazpacho and refreshing watermelon. Classes will be held just outside the vegetable garden gate and ingredients can’t get any fresher. Registration is $35 ($30 for Hallockville members). Time for the North Fork Foodie Tour

Since 2007, the North Fork Foodie Tour has become one of the area’s iconic events providing a unique opportunity to take a deep dive into one of the key features that makes the North Fork so appealing: its farms, vineyards and other food and beverage producers.

The 18th Annual North Fork Foodie Tour, sponsored by North Fork Reform Synagogue, is on Sunday, September 8, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Visitors can chart their own course for a day exploring the bounty of the North Fork with behind-the-scenes tours at more than a dozen locations where they can meet the extraordinary people who have dedicated their lives to the art of producing first class food and wine.

Ticket holders will learn about farming, sustainable agriculture and production methods used to create the area’s best food, wines, beers, spirits, and artisanal products.

The 18th Annual North Fork Foodie Tour will feature behind-the-scenes tours at 19 locations and four speakers presenting foodie talks and demos at the Foodie Tour headquarters at Peconic Land Trust’s Ag Center at Charnews Farm in Southold. Chef Jeremiah Johnson will demonstrate cooking using Caribbean flavors and locally grown vegetables; Page Pfeiffer of the French Picnic will teach participants how to build a cheese board and taste the result; Slow Food East End will introduce the team that has been promoting and supporting good, clean and fair food over 20 years; Miranda Capriotti will explain how the East End Food Institute helps local farmers turn their produce into products.

A list of participants includes: Oregon Road Organics in Cutchogue (vegetables and flowers) Breeze Hill Farm in Peconic (orchards and row crops), Sweet Woodland Farm in Southold (medicinal and culinary herbs) and Old Field Vineyards of Southold (family-operated winery practicing sustainable viniculture).

Post Labor Day Dining

As the summer season in the Hamptons winds down, the dining scene continues to thrive well after Labor Day with El Verano and Elaia Estiatorio, both of which will be keeping their doors open through September.
