Salut! It’s Summer and Wine Time!
It’s official! Vin Sur Vingt wine bar has opened its doors on Main Street in Sag Harbor. The new location joins the eight Vin Sur Vingt restaurants operating in New York City and one in Washington D.C.
Led by founder Sebastien Auvet, part of a new breed of wine lovers whose focus is on simplicity, authenticity, and value, the new Sag Harbor bistro — open for lunch and dinner — features an extensive list of a continuously rotating collection of 250 wines, with over 40 different wines available by the glass coupled with a French bistro menu.
In addition, Auvet has partnered with a world renowned mixologist who will create VSV’s first-ever French-inspired craft cocktail menu.
For those who want to learn more about French wine, it’s a match made in heaven. The regularly rotating wine menu is carefully selected from regions like Bordeaux, the Loire Valley, Alsace, Languedoc, Bourgogne and even Corsica. And don’t worry if you have little to no knowledge of wine. The staff will guide guests through ordering the right glass or bottle paired perfectly with a gourmet charcuterie or fromage selection.
The French bistro menu, inspired by Auvet’s grandmother, is designed to engender the atmosphere of an intimate, authentic bistro-a-vin in France. After spending some time there, enjoying the food and wine, and listening to nostalgic French songs, you will feel transported to all things French and yearn to visit Paris for a little romance and adventure. A special perk for the night owls — if you stay past 10 p.m., enjoy VSV’s late night happy hour featuring 25 percent off any bottle of wine until closing.
If you love French wine, you’re about to love it even more and learn something new in the process. Starting August 1, in an effort to educate wine lovers who come to the restaurants, Vin Sur Vingt has announced the opening of Le French Wine Club. Owners Auvet and Rakesh Chandiramaniare determined to give their patrons the gift of wine knowledge.
“The more our customers know about wine, the more they will enjoy the experience,” says Auvet. “And the more they will want to come back again and again.”
How often have you gone out to eat for lunch or dinner and suddenly the waiter hands you a wine list? For so many, it might as well be written in a foreign language as most people really don’t have the knowledge to know what wine to order to complement their meal. Vin Sur Vingt’s Le French Wine Club hopes to change all that.
Plans are underway for members to have access to wine tastings, which will teach them how to understand the compatibility between wine and food. Wine educators will also be a welcomed addition with seminars. And Grand Tastings are being planned for the wine trade with management in talks with importer/distributors to bring their portfolios to all their restaurants.
All Vin Sur Vingt locations will participate. Le French Wine Club gets its name from the restaurant group’s Le French Wine Shop on New York City’s Upper West Side.
So this summer, raise a glass and welcome Vin Sur Vingt Sag Harbor, and toast Le French Wine Club starting August 1. Membership is free.
