Springs Tavern Hits
The Market

A historic Hamptons bar and restaurant is on the market for the first time in years. Dating back to the early 20th century this establishment at 15 Fort Pond Boulevard has been a staple of the East Hampton community. Currently the Springs Tavern, is was formerly known as Wolfie’s, Jungle Pete’s and other names over the decades.

The property is represented by Hal Zwick and Jeffrey Sztorc (The Hamptons Commercial Real Estate Team) at Compass. In a release, they explain that with an increased year-round population, Springs is continuing to see a steeper growth curve than many other communities on the East End.

“Most restaurant sites are grandfathered in, it is very difficult to acquire a wet use site on the East End,” the release said. “This location is surrounded by a year-round community meaning the business has great potential for additional expansion on top of the proven consistency.”

The restaurant boasts 120 seats, with a full bar, a large dining area and a commercial kitchen. Outdoors, the site has ample parking and an outdoor seating section as well. The business is now for sale with a long-term lease in place. Price is available upon request. For details, email hamptonscommercialre@compass.com, call 631-678-2460 or visit compass.com.

Mexican Independence Day At Coche Comedor

Thursday, September 16, is Mexican Independence Day, and to celebrate, Coche Comedor in Amagansett is offering traditional specials. Offerings include pozole ($12), a pork and hominy soup with shredded lettuce, radishes, onions and cilantro, and braised beef short ribs ($34) with hoja santa, ancho and pasilla chiles and Balsam Farm corn tamal.

Coche Comedor, located at 74A Montauk Highway, Amagansett, is a year-round restaurant featuring regional Mexican cuisine inspired by local products. A wood-burning grill and rotisserie produces roasted chickens, meats and seafood seasoned with the flavors of Mexico all paired with house-made tortillas. A progressive bar program is centered around a large selection of tequilas and mezcals with an emphasis on margaritas. The space, housed in a former classic diner, is designed to preserve much of the original structure while adding authentic Mexican style including vibrant colors, Mexican art and a mural wall featuring custom graffiti.
