There’s more to taste and a lot more space at Provisions Natural Market and Café on Bay and Division streets in Sag Harbor Village. No matter if the desired diet is organic, gluten-free, raw, vegetarian, vegan, GMO-free or just plain health-conscious, the always-bustling boutique supermarket’s choices have grown with them as the store expanded into a space next door late this spring.

The market’s organic produce section now has twice the amount of space for greens, fruits, vegetables, and other earth-grown goodness from local organic and sustainable farms including Dale Haubrich and Bette Lacina’s Under the Willow Farm, Quail Hill Farm, Balsam Farms, and Good Water Farms. The support of local and organic farming has been a priority for Rich Kresberg, the market’s owner, for over 30 years, and Provisions has been a reliable source for Hamptons locals and visitors who seek healthy or specialized dietetic options.

Whether shoppers prefer organic yogurt, butter, eggs, and cheese or fermented vegetables, tempeh, and tofu, they will rejoice in the market’s doubled-in-size refrigerated section. Carnivores will enjoy new organic offerings that include grass-fed steaks and a larger variety of poultry pieces as well as hotdogs and cold cuts. Natural charcoal sits nearby, too, for those about to grill.

A brand new freezer packed with natural ice creams made with milk, rice, coconuts and cashews is a favorite of many shoppers, and employees too. Frozen fruit, veggies, pizza, and breads also fill additional freezer doors in the new space, formerly occupied by the Style Bar. Foodie-favorite oils, condiments, and spice selection has increased, too.

Provisions’ café renovation resulted in an extended counter and more elbow room for the 32 guests it accommodates. Breakfast and lunch diners have the option of taking their natural and GMO-free meal to go or enjoying it on the patio along the side the building. Breakfast is served until 11 a.m. midweek and all day on weekends, and options range from a ‘Whey Nuts!’ smoothie with coconut water, banana, raw cashews, cacao nibs and peanut butter to a hot-cooked meal of scrambled eggs with arugula, onion and goat cheese.

Lunch specials are offered daily and served until 4 p.m., with warm wholesome choices such as Red Lentil and Coconut Daal, served over brown rice with steamed greens for about $10. Lighter options include a salad with watermelon, grilled peaches, and tomatoes over arugula with red quinoa, tamari almonds, and miso ginger dressing.

Specials can be viewed on the market’s website along current sales, sailing weather and the current jellyfish status.

There’s always a soup and bean of the day too, along with juice and smoothies, which are served until 5 p.m. Muffins and other baked goods are offered as well, as is self-serve organic coffee, tea, and filtered water. A large grab-and-go cooler beside the café is a welcome new addition for those without the time to order and enjoy a sit-down meal.

Shoppers should prepare for temptation at the register area, where an expanded selection of fair trade and organic chocolate awaits, along with shelves of sumptuous superfoods and raw treats to satisfy any sweet tooth.

Provisions Fruit and Nut Club members receive a 10% discount on all purchases in the cafe and market, but the annual enrollment is only offered from December 1 to February 28. Thanks to the additional space in the café seating, Mr. Kresberg said the market has begun to offer the community informative programs in the evening, too. Recent experts have included a beekeeper, a naturopathic physician and an organic farmer.

The design is still evolving, Mr. Kresberg said on Friday, and he said that the market’s hours might expand in the future, too.

Provisions Natural Foods Market and Organic Café is located at the corner of Bay and Division streets in Sag Harbor. For more information, visit provisionsnaturalfoods.com.
