Take A French Wine Cruise with Roman Roth

authorAnnette Hinkle on Jul 22, 2021

Wölffer Estate Vineyard’s Roman Roth has scheduled a spring 2022 European river cruise that will sail from Avignon in the South of France to Lyon. He will serve as the cruise’s wine host and will conduct three wine tastings on the seven-night cruise. Roth will compare his Long Island wines with those of France’s Rhône River Valley. Passengers will also enjoy a gourmet dinner paired with the wines of Wölffer Estate Vineyard and fine Rhône varietals.

“The Rhône Valley is one of the most beautiful and historic areas in France,” Roth says.

Roth is both winemaker and partner at Wölffer in Sagaponack. His acclaimed wines are poured in the White House, regularly earning 92-point-plus judgments at nationwide wine competitions.

Roth has other creative talents. He comes from a German family of winemakers, wine merchants and singers. The Roth Family Singers toured and entertained audiences across Europe, the United States and Australia, giving young Roman an insight into life outside his native Germany. He has been a resident of Sag Harbor for over 20 years.

With Europe and France opening this month, Roth scheduled the 2022 river cruise in France for himself and the Wölffer Estate wine club. The cruise is March 24 to 31 aboard the 156-passenger AmaKristina. Ports of call are Avignon, Tarrascon, Tournon/Tain l’Hermitage, Vienne, Villefranche and Lyon. All meals, wine and off-ship tours are included.
