UPDATE: Due to inclement weather forecast for Saturday, the Shelter Island Design Walk will now take place on Sunday, August 30.

Six interior designers will open their studios and shops to the public on Saturday, August 29, for the Shelter Island Design Walk.

Fredric Bernstein Design is organizing this inaugural event. Throughout the day, guests will be invited to hear designers from Fredric Bernstein Design, Ram Design, Heiberg Cummings, Dirt, Marika’s and Patricia McGrath Design speak about their signature design philosophies and inspirations.

“Cristina Peffer of Ram Design reached out to me to forge a collaborative and supportive relationship as fellow Shelter Island designers and store owners,” Fredric Bernstein said. “The spirit of the gesture inspired me to bring together other designers on the island to celebrate our unique approaches to interior design along with ties that bind us together on this special island. I hope we can continue as well as grow the Shelter Island Design Walk year after year.”

Along with talks on design, the event will have opportunities to meet with affiliated artists and enjoy music and appetizers.

The stops are:

Marika’s: 9 to 10 a.m., 6 South Ferry Road, “Treasure Finder Talk”

Fredric Bernstein Design: 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., 36 North Ferry Road, “Fine Decor Punk”

Ram Design: noon to 1 p.m., 181 North Ferry Road, “Nature in Design”

Dirt: 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., 184 North Ferry Road, “Philosophy of Home”

Heiberg Cummings: 3 to 4 p.m., 183 North Ferry Road, “Introducing Dienst + Dotter”

Patricia McGrath Design: 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., 11 Grand Avenue, “Modern Coastal Living”

Reservations are not required. Social distancing protocol and practices will be in place at each stop. A portion of proceeds from sales made on Saturday, August 29, will benefit the Shelter Island Food Pantry. Follow @shelterislanddesignwalk in Instagram.
