The Southampton Press undertook a random sampling of East Enders and asked them when is the optimum time to take down Christmas decorations, inside and out?

—The first week in January; I’m already thinking of spring and I want to start filling my shop window with spring things!

Rose Dios, Southampton

—After New Year’s or maybe a week after. I’m sick of looking at holiday decorations already!

Arleen Alomia, Southampton

—During Little Christmas, or January 6. On Christmas Eve or Day, you have already celebrated with family and opened gifts, so up until Little Christmas, it’s still time to celebrate.

Karl Edwards, Shirley

—The first week in January. I’m always ready for something new around that time.

Alissa Smith, Southampton

—After Little Christmas because that is what my mom always taught me!

Deirdre Rogers, Hampton Bays

—Right after New Year’s Day. By that time, all the decorations start to look a little worn out.

Tom Breslin, Southampton

—A week or so after Christmas, reindeer and Santa Claus decorations should be taken down. But the trees lit up around town look nice even after New Year.
