Gracing the shore of Gardiners Bay, Robin Wilder’s East Hampton house is a sanctuary of bliss and revitalized romance of design. Finished in collaboration with artist and interior designer Sean Rush, the property lends itself to authentic living with celebrated refinement of eclectic design.

The home consists of a reconstructed main house — with a new addition to an original structure built over 100 years ago — and a spacious guest house. Every room was completed with nothing untouched and no margin of neglect.

Displaying a striking comprehension of curating a fusion of diverse design, the home exudes a holistic nature, embodying spiritual accents coexisting with modern art. This property confidently knows its worth of accented value and the meaning of serene living.

Bohemian Orientalism sets a strong tone of a grounded and honest narrative staying abreast of the remote grounds the property it is situated on.

“The property has a lot of warmth and comfort. It’s not pretentious, and I love that it’s just for me,” Wilder said. “It’s meant to be used and enjoyed and is very friendly, a real slice of heaven.”

Rush, who owns a renowned gallery in West Palm Beach, Sean Rush Atelier, finds his eye of design by cohabitating his own aesthetic with his client’s. “I don’t design with a huge ego, and I like to maintain my client’s existing collection,” he said. “Robin has a great eye for objects; her deco collection is off the charts, and her Orientalist collection is beyond. Merging those together very much feels like a museum curator’s home the way everything is blended together.”

Spending half the year out east, Wilder finds tranquility in setting an alluring and homey ambiance. Five functioning fireplaces are speckled all through the residence and are used with loving intention.

Kelly Wearstler lighting is installed throughout the house and not only creates a sublime ambiance but are also works of art in their own right. This is particularly momentous in the cosmic kitchen where an installation of light fixtures simulate a constellation of glowing stars. A leather-finished quartz countertop portrays a sleek surface to a bold and polished kitchen.

Phillip Jeffries wallpaper submerges with profundity giving texture and density in various rooms. With such a vast collection of art and artifacts, the walls create a sphere of solidity where all objects can be heartily displayed.

Wilder and Rush have a strong history of working together, having designed three properties in total that additionally consist of Wilder’s other residences in Palm Beach and New York City. There is an infinite groove and connection they have orchestrated together that is proudly demonstrated in the finished product.

Rush commented on the main trajectory of the aesthetic for the property. “The whole purpose was to find things that were light, easy and comfortable and not making this a monochromatic serious home,” he said. “The guest house had an enormous amount of levity to it, and it was about making edits and filling the house with joy.”

Sourcing objects from all over the world, the teak root coffee table that was imported from Bali speaks loudly conversing with a series of Andy Warhols that tower over the main living space.

A appealing taste of edginess is revealed with a large skull print staircase runner that is designed by Erik Lindström. The appreciation and suggestion of playfulness with this design style is mastered with creativity.

Elegance, warmth and equanimity present a tractable allure to the primary suite. Being an elevated floor, the views deliver an evolution of pronounced presence. The expansive walk-in wardrobe is a sacred place in this suite, a place where Wilder can assess and take time for herself with delicate care.

In the upstairs sitting room, an old monk’s prayer bench is used in a new fashion, fundamentally being her work desk. Displayed above on the wall are a collection of mirrors that reflect brisk light in a space that gives an appeal of relaxation.

Deriving many influences from the placid surrounding, Wilder and Rush’s talents for executing seaside living are fully implemented in this balanced home.
