Compass, a tech-driven real estate platform, has made two local grabs since announcing its foray onto the East End: Ed Reale of Brown Harris Stevens and Edward Petrie of Sotheby’s International Realty are jumping from their respective brokerages to join the new kid on the block.

“Attracting and partnering with exceptional talent is the first step toward a successful launch in any new market, and that holds especially true in the Hamptons, where competition is fierce,” Robert Reffkin, Compass’s founder and CEO, said in a statement.

Mr. Reale was the senior managing director at the Southampton, Sag Harbor and Westhampton BHS offices. He will become the managing director of sales for Compass’s Hamptons market.

Prior to Mr. Reale’s role at BHS, he was the brokerage manager of the Sotheby’s office in Southampton, where he was named a top manager each year during his tenure. Mr. Reale is a member of the New York State and Suffolk County Bar associations and holds a juris doctor degree from New York Law School.

“I look forward to working with the in-house engineers, brokers and leadership in building a truly different brokerage experience,” he said in a statement.

Mr. Petrie has more than 30 years of experience in luxury real estate, often being recognized on the Wall Street Journal’s list of top 200 agents nationwide. He has more than $230 million in current listings and consistently remains one of the top 10 brokers on the East End.

“I am excited to be at the forefront of Compass’s expansion into the Hamptons market,” Mr. Petrie said in the same release.

Compass launched in Manhattan in 2013. Its new East End office is located on Main Street in Bridgehampton.
