Alec Baldwin has put his Amagansett home on the market again, this time asking $19 million for the 5 acres on Town Lane with a 10,000-square-foot modern farmhouse overlooking a 5-acre agricultural reserve. The actor made a pitch for the property, and life in the Hamptons in general, in a video accompanying the listing.
Baldwin has owned the home at 335 Town Lane since 1995, and he explains in the video that he built an addition on the eastern side the year after purchasing it, and in 2014 he and his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, made an addition on the western side.
He’s had a place in the Hamptons going back much longer.
“I’ve had a home out here on the East End of Long Island since 1982,” he says in the video, while walking on the beach. “When I was younger, we’d come out here and sleep all morning and lay on the beach all day. When you’re young, this place is the best.”
The video cuts to Baldwin on Bluff Road in Amagansett. He explains that it is where he rented a home for five years before deciding to buy his own place.
“I bought my first house here on Old Montauk Highway around the corner from Atlantic Avenue Beach,” he says, now standing on the sidewalk of Old Montauk Highway and pointing to where he owned a cottage for seven or eight years.
“Then I decided I wanted something bigger, so I bought my house over on Town Lane,” Baldwin says just before a cut to him standing in front of his current home.
“I fell in love with this place the moment I came here because this is the main family home of the former Potter Farm — the Potter family,” Baldwin says. “You just can’t get this out here anymore. You can’t buy big pieces of land, especially in Amagansett, that I know of, and I’ve always loved it here. We’ve got all this open land here in reserve. The meadow in the front of my property is in reserve. It’s a very, very low-density area, and I love coming here. I’m always happiest when I come here, especially this time of year. I love it in the wintertime because it’s so peaceful and it’s so beautiful.”
Baldwin had offered the property for sale for $29 million in November 2022. By January 2023 the price was slashed to $24.9 million, and then in March 2023 further reduced to $22.5 million. It came off the market in September last year before returning this month at a $10 million discount off the original asking price.
Baldwin’s local involvement includes serving on the board of directors of the Hamptons International Film Festival. He has also been a major donor to the East Hampton Library, where the Baldwin Family Lecture Room is named for his family.
According to the Saunders & Associates listing for 335 Town Lane, the house currently has five bedrooms and comes with architectural plans for an expansion with two more bedrooms, a formal dining room, a sunroom and a screened-in porch. Department of Health Services approval is in place for an updated septic system that can accommodate up to 10 bedrooms.
“Every detail of this impeccable cedar shingle retreat has been curated to maximize indoor/outdoor space and utilize natural light throughout the year,” the listing states. “Elegantly entertain with a grand eat-in kitchen, dining room, movie theater, wine-tasting room, and a private wood-paneled library.”
Two balconies overlook the reserve to the south.
The property also includes a 625-square-foot pavilion with a fieldstone fireplace, a western-facing 20-foot-by-50-foot gunite pool and spa, and a fenced vegetable garden. It’s adjacent to Balsam Farm and the Amagansett trail system, with private access to equestrian trails.
