Architect Donald Wexler (pictured with Lance O’Donnell of o2 Architecture), leader and last surviving member of the Palm Springs Modern movement in California, was on hand last Thursday at the home of Marnie McBryde in East Hampton to discuss his latest venture, Hamptons Modern.
According to Ms. McBryde, she and Mr. Wexler will be collaborating with New York-based Form Architecture and Interiors and Palm Springs-based o2 Architecture on the Hamptons Modern project. Ms. McBryde reported that many homes will be constructed but the first will be located on Roberts Lane in East Hampton.
Mr. Wexler is credited with designing more than 200 homes and buildings in his 50 years in architecture, including the Dinah Shore house and the Palm Springs airport. A retrospective of his work will be on display at the Palm Springs Art Museum next year.
