Century 21 Agawam Town & Village’s next monthly Career Breakfast on Thursday, June 22, will address Zillow’s recent acquisition of Hamptons Real Estate Online, or HREO, the longtime favored listing service for East End brokers.
Following a presentation, a discussion will review the impact of the acquisition on local agents, and how this will affect the dynamics among Hamptons real estate players. Century 21 Agawam states that the event is offering unique insights concerning similar Zillow acquisitions in other U.S. markets.
Zillow, founded in 2006, is the undisputed leader among real estate search engines nationally, according to Century 21 Agawam. Zillow acquired the New York-based StreetEasy in 2013, and it was StreetEasy, as a division of Zillow, that acquired HREO in January this year.
Century 21 Agawam stated that HREO was one of the pioneers in internet search in real estate and was founded by Theresa Khuri, a visionary and gifted programmer who passed away in 2012 of multiple sclerosis, after which her husband, Nicholas, continued to successfully operate HREO, making it the primary source for local real estate search.
The Century 21 Career Breakfast series is open to those interested in exploring a career in real estate, experienced brokers seeking new opportunities, and agents looking to re-enter the business.
The Thursday, June 22, Career Breakfast will begin at 8 a.m. at 55 Hill Street, Southampton Village. There is no fee, but space is limited. RSVP to maida@townvillagerealty.com, vicki@townvillagerealty.com or 631-377-3929.
