A European-style barn farmhouse on 5 acres in Bridgehampton recently sold for $6.5 million, just $450,000 shy of its asking price.
The address is 87 Day Lily Lane, and the four-bedroom, three-bathroom, 3,500-square-foot residence is found down a 1,100-foot driveway through a rolling meadow. The property overlooks more than 100 acres of preserved farmland and has distant ocean views, according to the listing.
Double-height rooms with vaulted ceilings display hand-hewn beams. Among the amenities are a stone fireplace, an eat-in country kitchen, central air, south-facing French doors and a heated gunite pool. The grounds have stone walls and mature trees as well as rambling paths.
The property can be subdivided into two parcels, the listing notes.
Frank E. Newbold and Beate V. Moore of Sotheby’s International Realty had the listing. Compass brought the buyer.
According to The Real Estate Report Inc., the deal closed on January 27. The seller was 87 Day Lily Lane LLC and the new owner is Margaret Rose Day Lily LLC.
Town property records state that the house was built in 1993 and renovated and added onto in 2007, when the pool was built, and again in 2011. The records identify the seller as Alexander Vreeland. Mr. Vreeland is the president of the estate of the late Diana Vreeland, a Harper’s Bazaar columnist and fashion editor and Vogue editor-in-chief over the course of her career.
