For Tony-, Golden Globe- and Academy Award-winning actor Mercedes Ruehl, the recent sale of her East Hampton home marks her final curtain call on the East End — at least for now.
Her 2,500-square-foot, three-bedroom, two-bath home at 163 Talmage Farm Lane, listed with Saunders & Associates, sold on December 17 for just shy of $1.7 million, according to the Real Estate Report Inc. — but it stays within the creative world. The new owners are artist and skateboarder Giovanni Estevez and designer Karyn Grupski, brought by Compass.
“Nestled at the end of a bucolic cul-de-sac in the area of East Hampton, long favored by artists and writers, this serene escape is sure to please,” the listing said.
The light-filled, one-story home on three quarters of an acre opens to a great room and a large, open kitchen and dining area, as well as a living area with a fireplace that leads to the backyard, patio and free-form pool, which backs up onto a reserve.
An oversized primary bedroom suite comes complete with a fireplace, glass sliders and private patio, and the two remaining bedrooms share a bath. A large bonus room over the two-car garage provides additional space for guests, or a home office.
In 2017, Ruehl and her husband, artist David Geiser, who died in 2020, sold their waterfront home on Gerard Drive in East Hampton for $1.2 million. Whether the star will find another Hamptons abode, or move on for good, remains to be seen.
