A Southampton Village compound on Gin Lane once offered for $150 million with no takers will go on the auction block next month.
Known as “La Dune,” the 4-acre, two-parcel oceanfront compound hosts two traditional residences influenced by architect Stanford White, including the main residence that was featured prominently in Woody Allen’s 1978 film “Interiors.” La Dune has 400 feet of bulkheaded shoreline, two gunite pools, a sunken all-weather tennis court, courtyards, gardens, patios and decks. Among the indoor amenities are an Altos movie theater, a billiard room and fitness rooms.
The shingle-sided main residence, constructed in 1892, is four stories with 11,000 square feet of living space updated to contemporary standards. The second residence, by the late French architect and designer François Catroux, was built in 2001.
Concierge Auctions will put the compound on offer in partnership with Harald Grant of Sotheby’s International Realty, Tim Davis of The Corcoran Group and Cody Vichinsky of Bespoke Real Estate. Bidders may place bids on each individual residence or for both. The auction has no reserve.
Bidding will open on January 12 and continue through January 24 with the culminating Sotheby’s “Visions of America” event, a live auction at Sotheby’s New York featuring both fine art and real estate.
“Located on prestigious Gin Lane, this estate is the essence of old Southampton Village in her Camelot years,” Grant said. “The original home has been renovated beautifully, sitting majestically on top of a dune with surrounding ocean views in true Southampton style.
“Having witnessed Concierge Auctions set and break records time and time again, we are confident their auction process will bring forward competitive bidding and market value for La Dune,” he continued.
Davis added: “The ocean views and setting are sublime, embracing the best of beachfront living experienced only in the finest locales around the world. We look forward to identifying a new owner for this special property in the coming months.”
In partnership with Giveback Homes, when the sale of La Dune closes, Concierge Auctions’ Key for Key giving program will fund the construction of a new home for a family in need.
“The La Dune compound epitomizes luxurious living amidst the world’s most extravagant neighbors and real estate,” said Chad Roffers, the CEO of Concierge Auctions, in a statement. “As the leading property auctioneer globally, we possess an unrivaled database of the world’s most discerning, premier buyers. Our track record and expertise in handling one-of-a-kind assets like La Dune underscores our ability to create stakeholder confidence and ensure that true market value will be identified on auction day.”
La Dune, at 366 and 376 Gin Lane, was listed for $145 million in 2017 and for $150 million in 2022. The owner is Louise Blouin, a Canadian magazine publisher and art collector.
