A rebuilt and expanded 1902 “cottage” on 2.3 acres in Bridgehampton with access to Sagg Pond has sold for an even $25 million.
The Real Estate Report Inc. says the deal for 25 Quimby Lane closed on August 31, with Christopher Mitchell the chief business officer of Condé Nast, and Pilar Guzmán, a co-founder of The Swell and former editor of Condé Nast Traveler, selling to a limited liability company.
Mitchell and Guzmán bought the property in 2019 for $7.1 million. The existing house then was a 4,700-square-foot shingle-style manse with original features such as wide-plank hardwood flooring and the property had two accessory buildings.
When it hit the market in March this year for $28.5 million, Bloomberg reported that Mitchell and Guzmán worked with Sag Harbor architect Anne Sherry to “dramatically expand the home while reinjecting it with a patina of historical accuracy.”
According to the Sotheby’s International Realty listing, the shingled residence is now 12,000 square feet with 10 bedrooms, 11 full bathrooms and one partial bath, plus a full basement.
Sun-filled rooms have high ceilings, rift-cut white oak floors, and handmade mahogany windows. The kitchen/family room is open and the residence also features a spa, a steam room, a wine room, a fitness studio and a home theater.
The gated grounds boast specimen trees, a Har-Tru tennis court, an entertaining pavilion, a hornbeam allée with a 20-foot dining table and a 50-foot heated pool. The property also hosts a two-car carriage house and a separate studio building.
Beate Moore and Frank Newbold of Sotheby’s International Realty had the listing.
