After four years on the market, a pondfront modern estate in Sagaponack with ocean views has sold for $14 million — half the original asking price.
At 142 Crestview Lane, the 1.1-acre property with 125 feet of frontage along Fairfield Pond boasts a 9,000-square-foot, seven-bedroom residence by architect Brian O’Keefe and design director and interior designer Charles Allem, the principal of C.A.D. International.
It features a Poliform-designed kitchen, a marble waterfall wall, a marine-grade stainless-steel sliding door, fireplaces in both the living room and the family room, and a first-floor bedroom suite overlooking the pool as well as the pond. The master wing, with pond and ocean views and an onyx bathroom, is upstairs. Out the second-floor office is a staircase to the roof deck — an amenity that Sagaponack Village no longer permits in new homes — with views of the ocean and farm fields.
An elevator serves all three levels, including the lower level that offers a screening room, recreational area, billiard room with bar, wine cellar, two staff suites and a wellness center with gym and spa that includes steam, sauna, hot tub, cold plunge and massage room.
A loggia with a built-in kitchen and seating overlooks the heated gunite pool with a nearby sunken fire pit.
Home tech includes a Crestron-controlled environment with whole house audio, Reilly windows, Lutron-controlled lighting and shades, CCTV and a generator.
Associate broker Gary DePersia of Corcoran had the listing. “142 Crestview is a magnificent house that could not be built today on a pondfront acre in Sagaponack so close to the ocean,” DePersia said. “With 14,000 square feet inside plus a 4,500-square-foot roof deck, it had been built to the highest standards, with little regard for cost, and included almost every bell and whistle you could think of.
“It took a while to find a buyer as there were some repair issues,” he continued, noting that the original asking price in August 2020 was $28 million. “The new owner pursued this property doggedly and promises to restore it to its original luster. I, for one, cannot wait to see the results.”
The last asking price was $17 million.
The deal closed on October 10, according to Suffolk Vision Inc., which reported that the seller was Croxton 2 LLC and the new owner is Crestview 142 LLC.
