Two luxury properties in Southampton Village that were each listed for about $17 million have sold and closed, Douglas Elliman reported this week.
First, at 41 Gin Lane, is the Sunnymede estate, designed by architect Robert H. Robertson. According to Douglas Elliman, the seller spent years renovating and elevating the home, preserving its late Victorian style of 1887 while bringing in today’s cutting-edge technology and first-class amenities. Architect John David Rose completed a major renovation in 2019.
Sunnymede has 9,000 square feet of living and entertaining space across four floors. Details include crown molding and custom floorboards. A wrap-around porch is oriented to maximize natural sunlight throughout the home.
Enter through an oversized Dutch door and find on the first floor a formal dining area and a cutting-edge kitchen with a La Cornue range, marble countertops and a butler’s pantry. Or step outside to the full outdoor kitchen.
Three of the residence’s six bedrooms are found on the second floor, including the master suite with his and hers bathrooms, a gas fireplace, a western-facing porch, an oversized walk-in closet and a private sitting room.
Both the second floor and third floor have bonus rooms that could be converted into an office or playroom.
The lower level features a custom theater, a wine cellar, a gym, a full bathroom, and a sun-filled lower-level bedroom with walkout French doors.
On the grounds, enjoy a 36-foot-by-19-foot gunite pool.
The property also comes with a pool house and a two-car garage.
The deal closed December 3. Michaela Keszler, daughter Paulina Keszler and Terry Thompson of Douglas Elliman had the listing.
Late last month, 103 Great Plains Road, also represented by the Keszler mother-daughter duo, sold and closed with a last asking price of $17.45 million. According to Douglas Elliman, the estate section home belonged to the daughter of the late Pandora Duke Biddle — an heiress of the Duke tobacco and energy empire who died in 2019.
With landscaping by renowned 19th century landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted, the 3.4-acre property boasts a 12,635-square-foot traditional with eight bedrooms and 13 bathrooms.
The residence retains original mosaic tiling and it has a skylight above its grand staircase. It has a formal dining room, a custom-built bar, an oversized living room and two wood-burning fireplaces.
All of the eight bedrooms feature walk-in closets and en-suite bathrooms. The master suite has a sitting room, his and hers bathrooms connected by a steam room shower, and built-in wall units.
Outdoor amenities include wrap-around Ipe wood decking, a newly installed heated gunite pool and a pool house. A three-car garage has a separate two-bedroom apartment, and a historic garage is sited on the back of the property. The unfinished basement has high ceilings and access to a four-level elevator.
