Admirable Response

At about 10:15 p.m. on Friday, November 8, the wind blew down a tree across the street. The tree knocked down the electric pole, and an electric fire started.

The response was very fast and professional, from the calming 911 operator (I am sorry I did not get her name) to the fire department and PSEG. The Southampton Police Department was first on the scene and blocked off the area of the fire. The firemen explained that they had to wait for power to be turned off before putting out the fire.

After the fire was out, PSEG worked during the night to put up a new pole and electric wires. Saturday morning, Optimum and Verizon arrived. Someone from the Environmental Protection Agency dug up the contaminated soil. Early Tuesday morning, the Southampton Town Highway Department took away the fallen tree.

My husband and I are very appreciative of the fine work from all involved.
