Aime Lacoste
Aime Lacoste died on March 2 at his home in Southampton. He was 86.
Mr. Lacoste was a highly respected Three Village resident and educator for more than 30 years. He was an innovative and creative leader who was not afraid to take risks. He is credited with starting many successful programs and opportunities for students before retiring as principal at R.C. Murphy Junior High School. Survivors said he deeply cared about his students and staff and influenced their lives in a positive way.
His wife, Maria, said, “He was passionate about his family and education, he loved peanut butter on toast in the morning and, to the horror of his children, a bottle of Schlitz in the late afternoon, if he could find one.”
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Peter and his wife Patricia, Mary and her husband John, Tom and his wife Lydia, and Rebecca and her husband Karsten; and eight grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Charlie Lacoste and his companion, Madeleine of Massachusetts, and by his sister, Lucille McKay of Connecticut. He was predeceased by his first wife, Patricia.
A memorial service was held March 8 at Bryant Funeral Home in East Setauket.
