Alan L. Klug of East Quogue, a beloved husband and father, died on November 3. He was 81.
He was born on March 31, 1941, to Edna and Frank Klug of East Quogue. Klug met and fell in love with his wife Dorothy in 1958, and they married in 1962. This past June, the couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. They went on to have two daughters, Kristen and Donna.
A lifelong residence of East Quogue, Klug was retired from the Southampton Town Highway Department. He was an avid car collector and he purchased his first car when he was 12 years old. According to a ledger that he kept, he acquired over 2,000 vehicles in his lifetime. When he wasn’t working or spending time with his family, you could always find him “out back” with his vehicles, which were mainly Mopar and Dodge cars and trucks. If a NASCAR race was on, he would be in his recliner waiting for the green flag to drop.
He was predeceased by his parents, Edna and Frank Klug; and his brothers Roger and Ralph. He is survived by his wife Dorothy; his children Kristen and Donna; his son-in-law Christopher; and his only grandchild, Christopher Jr.
In keeping with his nature, the family will hold a private celebration of life with family and close friends.
