Lifelong Southampton resident Alan Rosko of Shinnecock Hills died on December 24. He was 51.

Born on January 30, 1958, to Thomas and Helen Rosko of Southampton, he attended Our Lady of the Hamptons School and graduated from Southampton High School in the class of 1976. He received degrees from both Brevard Community College in Florida and Suffolk County Community College, where he majored in business.

According to survivors, Mr. Rosko met the love of his life, Denise, in August 1988. The couple married on October 21, 1989, and recently celebrated their 20th anniversary.

A self-employed builder, contractor and craftsman, Mr. Rosko built and renovated many houses on the East End, including his own, overlooking Peconic Bay. Also an avid fisherman, surfcaster and golfer—as a teenager he caddied at the National Golf Links of America—he was a member of the Southampton Golf Club, and won a number of tournaments across the board.

His wife, Denise, said this week that he was a loving and devoted family man whose number one priority in life was spending time cooking and traveling with his wife, children, and the beloved family dog, Roxy. It was always an adventure, she added, as he lived each day of his life fully with those he loved and will be missed forever.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his parents; a daughter, Alexis, 13; a son, Andrew, 9; two brothers and their wives, Tom and Bobbi Rosko of Sag Harbor and Paul and Kathy Rosko of Southampton and California; three nieces, Erin and Sara Rosko and Summer Stelling; and three nephews, Kyle Rosko and Shawn and Ryan Stelling. He is also survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bob and Renee Stelling of Marco Island and Shinnecock Hills; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Dawn Stelling of Southampton.

Services were held on December 29 at O’Connell’s Funeral Home in Southampton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to a college fund set up for Mr. Rosko’s children, Alexis and Andrew, P.O. Box 1335, Hampton Bays, NY 11946 would be appreciated by the family.
