Angella Louise Townsend Brown of Bridgehampton died on November 22, 2024. She was 68.

She was born in Hanover, Jamaica, on October 13, 1956. She began her professional career at the Constant Springs Police Station (1979-1990), then worked at the Town Planning Department in New Kingston, Jamaica. In August 1976, she gave birth to her son, Aldane “Kevin” McKay, and welcomed her daughter, Tiffany Stewart, in August 1990. Seeking new opportunities for her growing family, she relocated to Brooklyn in July 1991.

Passionate about children, she worked as a caregiver for prominent New York City families. During a work trip to the Hamptons, she met taxi driver Hanson Brown, whom she married on June 10, 1995. She then settled in Bridgehampton, where she lived for 27 years.

Faith was central to her life. As a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Bridgehampton, she was instrumental in establishing its Sunday School and Youth Ministry committees. Her community service extended to the Bridgehampton Child Care & Recreational Center, where she provided food and guidance to local youth. She also cared for the elderly until her retirement in 2022, and volunteered as a poll worker during elections.

She brightened lives with her radiant personality and made everyone feel special, her family said. She was talented in cooking, crocheting, and gardening. A gifted storyteller and competitive Scrabble player, her smile lit up rooms, and her hugs were unforgettable.

She is survived by her husband, Hanson Brown Jr.; her two children; four granddaughters; one great-grandson; five siblings; three bonus children; numerous nieces, nephews, godchildren, family, and friends.
