Barbara E. Morgan, a cherished educator and community pillar, died on February 13 at the East End Hospice Kanas Center for Hospice Care. She was 83.
She dedicated 41 remarkable years to teaching at Eastport Elementary School, where she inspired generations of students with her passion and commitment in math and science.
Born and raised in Remsenburg, she attended Westhampton Beach High School before pursuing her calling in education at Oneonta. Teaching was not just a profession for her, it was a profound joy and a testament to her unwavering dedication to nurturing young minds.
Her passion for her community was evident in her active participation in various local activities like the Women’s Club of Westhampton. She was especially fond of playing bridge with her close friends, a pastime that brought her immense pleasure and companionship.
Family and friends were the heart of her world, her family said, and she found her greatest joy in their company. “Barbara E. Morgan’s legacy of love, learning, and community involvement will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her,” they said. “She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all.”
She is survived by her daughter, Andrea Morgan Tillman of Speonk; her son-in-law, Timothy Tillman; and her granddaughters, Olivia and Victoria Tillman.
The family is choosing to remember her privately at this time.
