Ribbon Cutting
For New Center

Peconic Landing, a retirement community on the North Fork, will host a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new Center for Well-Being, in partnership with Stony Brook Medicine, on Wednesday, May 18.

The expansion will enhance primary care and bring new specialty services to the East End, including rheumatology, orthopedics and more.

“This addition is the latest in Stony Brook Medicine’s continued efforts to expand and ensure access to vital medical services and top medical experts across multiple specialties throughout the East End,” said Hal Paz, M.D., executive vice president of health sciences at Stony Brook University, and CEO of Stony Brook University Medicine.

“The new Center for Well-Being enables us to offer a wider range of health care services to residents of Peconic Landing, the North Fork and Shelter Island,” said Paul Connor, chief administrative officer of Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital. “We have served our community for nearly 120 years, so our roots are deep and our desire to care for our neighbors is strong.”

Peconic Landing’s previous wellness office offered three exam rooms and access to internal medicine, cardiology and podiatry. The new expansion includes an additional 1,200 square feet and six new exam rooms.

In addition to serving the members at Peconic Landing, the physicians will serve the community at large, providing the same benefit for those on the East End who often must travel many miles west for appointments.

“We are so proud to begin this exciting new partnership with Stony Brook Medicine, which will ease the burden of travel for folks of all ages on the North Fork and Shelter Island,” said Robert J. Syron, president and CEO of Peconic Landing. “Becoming New York’s first Continuing Care Retirement Community to host specialists on campus is precisely aligned with our mission to serve our community, and we thank Stony Brook Medicine for helping us bring this dream to fruition.”

Turning Point

The Southampton Arts Center was filled with incredible talent, energy and generosity last Thursday — both on stage and in the audience, it was an all-star lineup of the men and (mostly) women who run the region’s nonprofit organizations. Having gathered for an Express Sessions conversation, it turned into a clarion call: Arts organizations, charities helping to feed families, groups focusing on aiding children, or animals, or historic preservation, or community health, or victims of domestic violence — they all had a unified message for the community — “we need help.” It must be said, the South Fork is a ... by Editorial Board
