Brenda Berglin Taraku Of Southampton Dies May 31

Brenda Berglin Taraku of Southampton died May 31 of complications from her battle with cancer. She was 47.

Born in Southampton, the youngest child of John and Dorothy Berglin of Hampton Bays, she enjoyed traveling around the world, music, the beach, and spending time with her family. She was also an active member of her community, serving as a Tuckahoe Common School District parent advocate, and volunteering her time at nearly every PTO event.

She is survived by her husband, Bujar, known as “Benny,” and their five children, Kasandra, Brandon, Ben, Zakary and Joshua; two brothers, John and wife Sue of Hampton Bays, and Tim and wife Maureen of Hampton Bays; and a sister, Cindy and husband Tom of Syracuse. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton; a funeral service was held there on June 5 with the Reverend Philip Hubbard, rector of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Hampton Bays, officiating. Interment followed at Southampton Cemetery.
