Bridget L. Gilliam-Wilson of Bridgehampton died peacefully at the Kanas Center for Hospice Care on Quiogue on November 1. She was 62.
She was born on November 10, 1960, in Southampton Hospital to Betty and the late Leo Gilliam Sr.
On August 20, 2020, she married Vincent Wilson. She dedicated her life to the Lord from an early age, her family said, finding solace in her faith. She actively participated in her community as the president of the Junior Usher Board, immersing herself in the joy of gospel music, especially cherishing “Stand” by Donnie McClurkin.
She graduated from Bridgehampton High School, where she was in the honor society and the school band, playing the clarinet as the first chair. She graduated with honors.
She dedicated 32 ½ years of her life to the Town of Southampton, working in the Housing and Human Resource Department. She touched the lives of countless individuals and families, her family said, providing them with housing and various opportunities.
She earned two degrees in business from Johnson & Wales University in Rhode Island.
She was a devoted and loving mother, her family said, cherishing her two sons and caring for them with unmatched dedication. She was always excited to bring her son, T.J., to church when he came home.
She is survived by her husband, Vincent; two sons, Terry McCoy Jr. and Tyler McCoy (Angie); her mother, Betty L. Gilliam; her sister, Sharon R. Gilliam; two brothers, Leo M. Gilliam Jr. (Jackie and Shalise), and Reginald T. Gilliam (Sandie); her mother-in-law, Gladys Wilson; her sister-in-law, Wanda Wilson; and her dearest friend, Felicia Coffey; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.
She was predeceased by her father, Leo Gilliam Sr.; her brother, Mark T. Gilliam; and godson, Kareem Coffey.
A home-going service was held at the First Baptist Church in Bridgehampton with the Reverend Tisha Dixon Williams presiding. Interment followed at the Edgewood cemetery in Bridgehampton. Arrangements were entrusted to the Brockett Funeral home in Southampton.
