Burton Lee Gossoo of Hampton Bays died on February 20. He was 73.

He was born in Kingston, New York, on August 28, 1950.

He attended various schools in upstate, New York, before moving to Wethersfield, Connecticut, where he attended Wethersfield High School from 1964 to 1968 and graduated with honors. He was active in the choir, the drama club, and was a member of the school band.

After leaving high school, he enrolled in Ohio Wesleyan University from 1968–1972. Upon his graduation, he traveled to California. He then moved to Hampton Bays in the late 1970s. He was employed by Strong Oil from 1988 until his retirement in 2016.

He was predeceased by his father, the Reverend Ivan F. Gossoo, and his mother, Dorthea Mathena Gossoo.

He is survived by his partner of 24 years, Sharon Hendrickson–White; his sister, Lynn Jones and her husband Doug of Petersburg, New York; his niece, Shannon Martin and her husband Dan and his great-niece Nina of Bristol, Connecticut; his nephew Erin Jones and his wife Kirsten and great-niece Abbie of Bristol; plus a host of friends who will miss him dearly. He also leaves behind his dog, Yodie Boo–Boo.

Memorial donations may be made to the Carter Foundation, ARF of the Hamptons, Southampton Animal Shelter, and Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center.

A memorial celebration of his life will take place at a later date.
