Camille Rogers Campbell died peacefully with family by her side on August 23. She was 85.

Mrs. Campbell was born in New York City on August 7, 1936 to the late Camille Bartlett Rogers and Frederick Cossitt Rogers.

She graduated from the Chapin School and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree at Smith College. She raised her family in New York City, where she lived most of her life.

She was an active member of the Junior League and The Mayflower Society. She and her husband retired to Southampton, where she was a member of the Garden Club of Southampton for over 50 years. She was also a member of The Meadow Club and The Southampton Bathing Corporation.

Mrs. Campbell spent the last four years of her life with family in Nashville. She leaves behind her great love of Southampton, its traditions, activities and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Samuel Robert Campbell.

Mrs. Campbell is survived by her sister Elizabeth Rogers Brokaw and by her children John Palmer Campbell III (Lisa Hooker Campbell) of Nashville; Camille Campbell Westervelt (Dirck E. Westervelt) of North Kingston, Rhode Island; and Peter Bartlett Campbell (Heather Hodson Campbell) of Brooklyn. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Alice Hooker Campbell, Eileen Campbell Hart (Christopher Forbes Hart), John Palmer Campbell IV, Georg Friedrich Cossitt von Arnim, Samuel Dashiel Campbell, Clementine Gillian Campbell; her great-grandchildren Evelyn Elisabeth Hart and Henry Williamson Hart; many nieces and nephews.

A graveside committal service at her family plot will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 25, at the Southampton Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held at The Southampton Club from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. that afternoon.

The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to the dedicated care givers, particularly Jan Norby RN, BSN, for their care of Mrs. Campbell.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Southampton Hospital Foundation (Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, 240 Meeting House Lane, Southampton, NY 11968), The St. Andrews Dune Church (12 Gin Lane, P.O. Box 1245, Southampton, NY 11969) or the charity of one’s choice.

CMEE To Host Family New Year's Eve Event

The Children’s Museum of the East End in Bridgehampton will ring in 2026 with a daytime New Year’s Eve celebration designed especially for young families.
