The Children’s Museum of the East End will host a “Moana” sing-a-long movie night on Monday, February 17, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The evening will feature crafts, pizza and a special viewing of “Moana” in the indoor gym. Children are encouraged to wear their coziest pajamas while they dance and sing to their favorite hits. The event is open for kids ages 2 to 8 years and costs $10 for members and $15 for nonmembers. The Hamptons Observatory will host a free virtual lecture about auroras on Thursday, February 20, at 7 p.m. Dr. Elizabeth MacDonald, space physicist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center and founder of aurorasaurus.org, is the guest speaker. The Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation will be the beneficiary of a “Tail-Gating” party at Uber Geek Brewery in Riverhead on Saturday, February 8, from 1 to 4 p.m. The brewery is located at 400 Hallett Avenue. The event is intended to showcase adoptable pets as a buildup to the Super Bowl the next day. Sound Aircraft Services at East Hampton Airport is hosting a program for young people to learn about becoming a pilot. The “Guide for Aspiring Aviators and Their Families” will take place on Friday, February 7, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the airport, 173 Daniels Hole Road in Wainscott. The program will touch on local training options, and a panel of experts, including East Hampton Town Airport director and former United Airlines Captain James Brundige, and ex-FAA regulator turned flight instructor Lou Cusimano will answer questions. In recognition of Black History Month, Hallockville Museum Farm will host “Slavery on the North Fork,” a presentation by members of the North Fork Project, which has spent four years researching the history of slavery in local communities.
