Charles Minot Amory III (“Minot”), born August 12, 1947, passed away peacefully at his longtime residence in Southampton, NY on January 18th, 2023, surrounded by family and friends after a short
but characteristically fierce battle with cancer. Minot was an avid golfer and a successful businessman and divided his time between homes in New York City, Palm Beach and Southampton.

His boisterous and infectious sense of humor may have been the cause of his expulsion from some well known East Coast prep schools. On the other hand, he gained an incredible circle of friends from all walks of life, to whom he was steadfastly loyal. As a teenager, Minot volunteered for Vietnam. He was a combat veteran and had a profound understanding of what it meant to be an American.

Greatly loved by most contemporaries contemporaries, he was lauded for his massively entertaining ability to
“tell it like it is.” He greatly loved the family unit which resulted in his marrying four times.

He never felt a greater duty than to the next generation and had a profound impact on not only his children but also on their contemporaries. Many of them came to pay their respects in his last week. During these visits, Minot was upbeat and wanted to keep the atmosphere jolly.

Minot was a unique person, a true character, who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his three children, Charles Minot Amory IV and his wife Julia Amory, Henry and William Amory all of Palm Beach FL and a stepson, John Olympitis of Pacific Palisades, CA and two grandchildren, Honor and Charles Minot Amory V.
