Christopher F. Seger of Hampton Bays and New York City died on February 23 from complications of COVID-19. He was 51.

Mr. Seger was born January 27, 1970 in Putnam, Connecticut and lived in Thompson, Connecticut. He attended Thompson Elementary School, was on the Honor Roll and then went on to graduate from Marianapolis Preparatory School, class of 1988. He then attended Bradford College in Massachusetts, class of 1992, and graduated Magna Cum Laude.

After graduating college, Mr. Seger lived in several different areas including Boston, Provincetown, and San Diego. He then lived in Hampton Bays with Adam Grossman for many years. He then returned to New York City, the city he loved.

Mr. Seger loved to travel, visiting the islands of Greece, London, Paris, San Francisco and many other places.

He had a long and successful career in health care media relations. He was instrumental in getting coverage for numerous new medical breakthroughs in some of the most prominent magazines and publications.

Mr. Seger needed to know the who, why, what, when and absorbed as much knowledge as he could, his family said. He enjoyed reading, the arts, museums, Broadway, all kinds of music, photography, fine dining at well-known restaurants but also a couple of hot dogs from one of the vendors on the streets of New York City. He enjoyed window shopping with family, deep conversations about politics, sitting on the beach, sailing on Long Island with Mr. Grossman and his parents, Janet and Karl Grossman, and was an avid movie watcher.

His charm, wit, sense of humor and passion touched many lives and he will be missed by all, his family said, noting that Mr. Seger lived life to the fullest and many peoples’ lives were enriched from having known him. To know him was to love him, they added, noting that they would miss him forever.

Mr. Seger is survived by his mother Susan Blanchette (Seger) of Woodstock, Connecticut; his sister Jean Seger and her husband Richard Kusy of Manchester, Connecticut; his life partner and best friend, Adam Grossman of Hampton Bays; as well as aunts, uncles and cousins from both the United States and the United Kingdom; and many friends.

A celebration of life date is to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to the Hole In The Wall Gang Camp, 555 Long Wharf Drive, New Haven, CT 06511, or www.holeinthewallgang.org, would be appreciated by the family.

Under Attack

Democracy is under attack, and calling out the shifty, shady ways political parties are taking choice away from voters is essential. It’s very much an issue at the national level, for so many reasons. Not least of which, the House of Representatives — with the full support of Republicans, including 1st District U.S. Representative Nick LaLota — approved a measure last week called the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act, or the SAVE Act, which would make it much harder for any American to register to vote.
